Tricolor Aglaonema pictum
-
Light: Place your plant in a bright location, but avoid direct sunlight, as this can burn the leaves. Bright, indirect light is ideal.
-
Temperature: Maintain a constant room temperature between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius. Avoid cold drafts.
-
Watering: Aglaonema prefers the soil to be slightly moist, but not waterlogged. Allow the topsoil to dry out between waterings. Ideally, water with room-temperature water. Overwatering can lead to root rot.
-
Humidity: Aglaonemas enjoy moderate relative humidity. You can increase the humidity around the plant by placing a tray of water with pebbles under the pot or by using a humidifier.
-
Fertilizer: Fertilize your Aglaonema once a month during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced indoor plant fertilizer. Reduce frequency in autumn and winter.
-
Pruning: Remove yellow or damaged leaves to encourage the growth of new, healthy leaves.
-
Repotting: Aglaonemas generally do not need frequent repotting. Do so when the plant outgrows its pot or the soil is depleted. Use a quality indoor potting mix.
-
Cleaning: Regularly wipe the leaves with a damp cloth to remove dust and promote better plant respiration.
-
Toxicity: Keep in mind that Aglaonema is toxic to pets and children if ingested. Be sure to keep it out of their reach.
