Gibasis – Bridal Veil
Gibasis, also known as "Bridal Veil," is an attractive houseplant appreciated for its delicate leaves and airy appearance. Here's how to care for this plant indoors:
1. Light: Gibasis prefers bright indirect light to filtered light. Place the plant near a window where it will receive filtered light. Avoid direct sun exposure, as this can scorch the leaves.
2. Temperature: Maintain room temperature between 18°C and 24°C (64°F and 75°F). Avoid temperatures below 10°C (50°F), as they can damage the plant.
3. Watering: Keep the soil evenly moist, but avoid overwatering. Water when the soil surface begins to dry slightly. Be careful not to leave the plant in standing water, as this can lead to root rot.
4. Humidity: Gibasis tolerates normal humidity levels in most homes. You don't need to significantly increase humidity, but a slightly more humid environment can be beneficial.
5. Fertilization: Fertilize the plant with a diluted balanced houseplant fertilizer approximately every 4 to 6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce fertilization in autumn and winter when growth slows down.
6. Pruning: Prune the plant as needed to maintain its shape and encourage the growth of new healthy leaves.
7. Repotting: Repotting is only necessary if the plant becomes root-bound. This may take several years. Use a slightly larger pot with a quality, well-draining potting mix.
